Jaguar Youth Development Program

We will have one to three teams per grade level, each with 8–9 players (adjusted based on interest).

As our emphasis is on development, coaches will do their best to ensure that while everyone is playing, everyone is getting better, and everyone is having fun.

• Frequency: 90 minutes, twice per week

• Monthly Total: 8 practices

• Season Total: 24 practices

• Typical Schedule: Tuesdays & Wednesdays

• Note: Schedules may shift to Mondays/Thursdays when needed

We follow USA Basketball’s “training to competition” ratios, which increase as athletes advance:

• 4th–7th Grade:

  • 5-on-5 league (12–13 games across both semesters)

  • Three 3-on-3 competitions per semester

  • Two 90-minute practices per week

• 8th Grade:

  • Three 5-on-5 tournaments (first semester)

  • Three 3-on-3 competitions

  • Two 90-minute practices per week

Our competitions will be a mix of 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 play, as we believe exposure to both formats accelerates development.

• Four half-courts yield 24 players active vs. 20 in 5-on-5

Each team benefits from one or two parent volunteers who assist with:

• Communication: Scheduling practices, finding subs, liaising with coaches

• Operations: Score table management, game-clock operation, warm-up coordination

• Logistics: Coordination of team needs, equipment, and travel

• Uniform Fee: $120 (reversible jersey, shorts, shooting shirt, bag tag)

• Returning athletes whose uniforms still fit may reuse last season’s gear
